While Vijay is basking in the success of his Diwali release, 'Velayudham' that is running to packed houses, tinsel town birdies have it that he will be seen with pan Indian actress, Kajal Aggarwal in his next with AR Murugadoss!
Sources close to this yet-to-be-titled venture reveal that the team have zeroed in on Kajal Aggarwal for the heroine slot. Many names were rumoured around for this film earlier, including Priyanka Chopra and Priya Anand, but it looks like lady luck has favoured Kajal.
Kajal is currently busy with work on 'Maatraan' where she shares screen space with Suriya, under KV Anand's direction.
The film will be an out-and-out action entertainer where the lead stars will be seen in a suave avatar. The film will go on floors shortly and as per reports shots will be canned in parts of Mumbai, Tiruchendur and Thoothukudy.

Nanban - Friends who heed

With Vijay's 'Velayudham' becoming a Diwali release, it is confirmed that the Ilayathalapathy's next venture, the Shankar-directed 'Nanban', will hit the screens for Pongal.
'Nanban', a remake of Bollywood blockbuster 'Three Idiots', stars Vijay, Srikanth, Jiiva, Ileana D' Cruz, Sathyaraj in lead roles with Anuya Bhagawath and S J Suryah playing pivotal ones. Harris Jayaraj has scored music. The shooting for the movie is complete and post production works have begun.
In 'Nanban', Vijay plays an engineering college student, whose ideas are always out of the box. Jiiva and Srikanth play his close buddies in college. A major portion of the film was shot in Darjeeling and Ooty. Unlike other Shankar films, 'Nanban' was completed in a quick pace.
Says Vijay, "It is my longtime wish to join hands with Shankar and it has come true with Nanban. He is a dedicated director and expects nothing but his best from his colleagues. Shooting for Nanban was a great and lovely experience. I enjoyed it thoroughly."
Goan-beauty Ileana is expecting to start her second innings in Kollywood with 'Nanban'. She enacts the role done by Kareena Kapoor in the original, romancing Vijay, who has replaced Aamir Khan.
The actress pins all hope on the movie and circles close to her say that she would accept other offers in Tamil only after the release of 'Nanban', produced by Gemini Films.
Shankar is known for his grand approach and his producers, keeping his lavish predilections in mind, had no objections to spend the extra buck to shoot his signature style of visuals, especially in the songs of the film. "This has made Nanban a visual delight," sources say.
Confirming this, Shankar says, "I feel Nanban has shaped out very well in all aspects. The highlight of the film will be its characters and the excellent performances of the artists in it. It's going to be a treat watching Vijay, Jiiva, Sathyaraj, Srikanth, Sathyan, Illeana altogether. Every scene is edited and dubbed till date."
The 'mega director', who is fresh from the grand success of 'Enthiran' adds: "Vijay hosted a wonderful party for the completion of the film and it was so nice that all the artists and technicians of the film gathered; it was a very relaxing evening full of talk, dance, fun, laughter etc."
Let's hope that 'Nanban' will be an enjoyable movie, as much as its original was, probably even more entertaining considering the exciting cast and crew of 'Nanban'!

I don't want to do off-beat films: Vijay

Without any ifs or buts, Vijay has answered straight to a famous allegation on him- that he is not trying hands at different subjects. "I don't want to come out of the commercial route. And I will not do off-beat films. Commercial format suits me well. So why should I," he asks.
At the same time, the Ilayathalapathy confesses that he likes watching off-beat movies. "Personally speaking, I like such films. But I know very well that fans don't like me doing anything out of the commercial format. I have prior experience in this," he says.
Happy about the success of his Deepavali release 'Velayudham', he says, "I wanted to do such a film right from the beginning. But I was just a budding actor then. So I waited all these years, till director Jayam M Raja came to me with the idea."
On his next, 'Nanban' directed by Shankar, Vijay says, "Again it is a remake but one could feel Shankar's unique stamp from the beginning till end. The director has given a new colour to 3 Idiots and I loved being part of the movie. Nanban will be a Pongal treat."

Vijay's project with ARM changes hands?
We know that AR Murugadoss is going to direct Vijay's next film. Now the project seems to have gotten a title and a new producer. Instead of the Ilayathalapathy's father SA Chandrasekhar, Kalaipuli S Thanu will now fund the film, which has been titled 'Thuppakki'.
If sources are to be believed, SAC, who is currently the president of Tamil Film Producers Council, had some issues with the salary demanded by Murugadoss. Following this, Thanu came forward to produce the film and Chandrasekhar had no problems in it, sources say.
"The shooting of Thuppakki will start soon. Murugadoss is ready with the script and Vijay is eager to work with him. Kajal Aggarwal will be the leading lady of the film, which will have music by Harris Jayaraj, the lucky mascot of the 7aum Arivu director," add sources.
While some say the movie will hit the floors at Tiruchendur, there are others who claim that the shooting of 'Thuppakki' will start in Mumbai on November 26. Whatever be the place, sure thing is that another grand entertainer is on cards.

Vijay fans donate their organs
Vijay fans celebrated Velayutham’s success recently and since it is his 52nd film, about 52 college students pledged to donate their organs. The star was present at this function that took place recently.
In fact, ‘Velayudham’ is inspired from Telugu movie ‘Aazad’ that had Nagarjuna, late actress Soundarya and Shilpa Shetty in lead roles. Genelia D’ Souza and Hansika Motwani – the hotties of South Indian film industry star opposite Vijay in female lead roles while Santhanam takes care of comedy portions. Saranya Mohan gets a meaty role to perform here in the role of a sister.
On the whole, ‘Velayudham’ marks the comeback of actor Vijay, who had most of his previous films not so good in its places. Following ‘Mankatha’, this film will make a good mark in the box office of 2011.
Vijay has always been supportive of such causes and has encouraged his fans to donate organs, blood etc. The actor said that he is impressed by the students coming forward to donate their organs and thanked them for it.

Vijay and Ajith Relationship
All of us know about the sparring in the media Kollywood actors Vijay and Ajith. It spilled over in their films which had dialogues taunting each other. The day before yesterday however was different. Vijay who had come to AVM studios for attending the launch of E, made an unannounced entry into the launch function of Ajith’s Tirupathi. He hugged Ajith and pleasantries were exchanged. While everyone stood dazed in surprise, both attended the E function together.
Vijay next movie starts soon
Ilayathalapathy Vijay's latest release Velayudham has turned out to be a big hit. The movie has been declared as a clear winner among other diwali releases and is continuing to make more profits. Vijay is now a very happy person, as his last two movies has been received very well by all audiences and his fans too. Velayudham was made on a budget of 45 Crores, the highest till now in Vijay's career. The movie has collected a gross of 76 Crores and the profit share is almost close to 49.2 Crores.
